35 Cadets of Batch-11 have completed the 3 years Marine Engineering course under the Alternate Training Scheme (ATS, approved by D.G.Shipping, Government of India) at Chennai School of Ship Management, Chennai. A passing out function was held at the college campus of CSSM on 22.12.2011. Shri K.S.Padmanabhan, Head of Operations, Elegant Marine Services, Chennai presided over as the Chief Guest. He awarded Certificates to the passing out cadets. He also issued Epaulettes to the Batch-14 cadets during the function proceedings. Other eminent persons attended the function were Shri K.Prithiviraj of Krishmarine Consultancy Services and Mr.Samuel Joseph from WMTC. Smt.Gayathri Devi presented Welcome Address. Shri G.V.Ramanigopal, Managing Director-CSSM and Shri A.Ramasubramania Pillai, Principal-CSSM delivered their speeches and explained about the activities of CSSM. Shri Padmanabhan addressed the cadets with highlighting points regarding the hard work required of the cadets when they go for sailing as a Marine Engineer and stressed the significance of following safety aspects on-board ship when they sail. He advised the cadets not to be mislead by false self-confidence because it will not fetch you the required results. “Be proud to be a Seafarer and you must dedicate your services with loyalty and discipline so as to become a successful seafarer” he advised the cadets while concluding his speech. Cadet Nitesh Gautam was awarded Gold Medal and Trophy for his overall performance. Cadet Rohit Unni was the Silver Medalist and Cadet Basil George was awarded the Trophy for Best Officer-like Qualities. CSSM’s in-house magazine.

CSSM awarded cash prize of Rs.2,000/- each to top rankers in 10th Std and 12th Std of Govt.Higher Secondary School situated in Mambakkam.

CSSM’s in-house news magazine, “True Course 2011” was released by the Chief Guest and received by Mr.K.Prithiviraj and Mr.Samuel Joseph during the function.

Shri B.Venkatakrishnan, Manager offered Vote of Thanks. The function ended with National Anthem played by CSSM Band team.
