Chennai School of Ship Management (CSSM) was established in the year 1998 as Marine Engineering College, with the approval from the Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India, vide approval No.3-TR(26)/97. Since inception, CSSM is a college of ultimate excellence for pursuing Marine Engineering. The qualified Marine Engineers of our college are highly sought after among International maritime community evidence high reputation of the college in preparing them with high standards of competency for ready market suitability/acceptability. Quality is at the central focus of all activities of the CSSM to make the cadets achieve pinnacle of perfection in performance.

The college is situated in a spacious 5 acre plot with a build up area of 35,000 sq. ft, mid-way between Vandaloor Kelambakkam Road, at a distance of about 40 Kms., from Chennai. The ambience and environment exactly meets the needs of an educational Institution, which is on a consistent growth trajectory.

CSSM made an indelible imprint in Maritime Education and Training during the last 13 years. The Cadets of our college serving as Engineers with various shipping companies are held in high esteem because of their exemplary professional caliber and this itself speak of the image and reputation, the college commands in the Maritime Industry. CSSM owns an enviable academic team comprising veterans from the Maritime Industry. The faculty members train cadets on the trade to a larger extent with their accumulated skills and knowledge thus producing 100% result in Class-IV Part “A” exams, which the cadets have to write after passing out from CSSM, conducted by the D.G.Shipping.

In view of the foregoing, it may be observed that grooming that cadet through the successive stages to take him to the desired goal of 5th Engineer in a ship is a complex task. Hence, in order to accomplish this goal, the management had taken the primary objectives to be achieved interwoven in the motto of the institution.
