CSSM, was founded a decade ago in the year 1998 as Marine Engineering College, with approval from DGS, Ministry of Shipping Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India, vide approval no.3-TR(26)/97. Since inception, CSSM remains atop as the blue-chip destination for learning Marine Engineering. CSSM’s repute as ’leader-feeder of specialist marine engineers to the international maritime community has been constantly growing to newer altitudes every year. CSSM is resolved to continuously further the quality of Indian Maritime Education through its close association with the global maritime sector. Retaining QUALITY permanently on the agenda in all functional areas, CSSM cruises ahead.

The college is a three storey architecture, with lush green meadows and shady groves around. The campus is located on tranquil landscapes. One end of the site connects to the Chennai’s actively engaged IT corridor while the other leads to the industrial estate of core engineering conglomerates.

Resourceful mariners have been aligned to educate the students of CSSM. These veterans teach in tune with the cadets’ different levels and degrees of understanding and extract the best out of learners. CSSM’s faculty train cadets on the trade to a larger extent with their accumulated skills and knowledge. The process of education and training in CSSM includes seminars, workshops, weekly examinations and visits to appropriate industries at regular intervals. All these steadfast efforts to produce competent marine engineers have transformed CSSM into a Mecca for marine education and training.
