Wallems Press Meet

Wallem Ship Management and Chennai School of Ship Management (CSSM) are associated now through the selection of CSSM cadets by Wallems. CSSM cadets, who are undergoing the Phase-3 (final year) training under the Alternate Training Scheme to become Marine Engineers, are selected for placement as Junior Engineer Officers through a written exam and personal screening test by Wallems.

Addressing the gathering during the press meet held on 4th April 2007, Capt.G.Ramaswamy, General Manager (South India), Wallems expressed the significance of on-board training imparted under Phase-2 in ATS. He added that cadets, having undergone the hands-on training on-board during the second year, are able to perform better compared to other boys of various streams thereby making them more competent engineers. ATS facilitates the cadets to prove their excellence as they gain full knowledge about the functions, operations and maintenance of all the equipments and machineries installed on-board before completing the course itself, he endorsed. He stressed the need of hard-work required to sustain as a professional and praised CSSM cadets for their knowledge, skill and commitment shown by them during their training. Capt.Ramaswamy said that he was highly impressed by the performance of all the CSSM cadets, who sailed as 5th Engineers with Wallems and that has made him come forward with placement of many more cadets of CSSM.
Wallems already placed 12 cadets passed out from CSSM in September 2006 as 5th Engineers. These cadets achieved 95% pass results in the Class-IV Part “A” examinations held in Oct-Nov, 2006. Ice on the cake is that another eight cadets of the present batch, who are undergoing the final year training at CSSM, are now selected for placement as 5th Engineers as and when they clear the Class-IV Part ‘A’ exams. These cadets were awarded appointment orders accordingly by Capt. G. Ramaswamy, GM, Wallems on the above occasion.

Shri G.V.Ramanigopal, Managing Director, CSSM, during his speech, expressed his happiness over the selection of his wards by Wallems. He re-iterated the values of the second year training imparted on-board to the cadets and further added about the vast improvements seen on them when they join the third year training after their on-board training. There is no boundary for earning profit in this field, but ‘satisfaction’ plays a key role in grooming the cadets ablaze with success, he pin-pointed while talking about the teaching methodology applied by CSSM in preparing the young cadets as Professionals. Finally, he assured that CSSM will endeavour to produce the best cadets and to meet the growing challenges of the shipping and maritime industry as a whole.
Wallems being the pioneer company, who first started employing Indians into the foreign waters, has been recognized for its excellence and high standards in every field, was awarded recently by the Shipping Industry as the Best Company for job placements in all categories. The Wallem’s great history in brief was presented by Mr.Samuel Joseph, Electrical Engineer, who had sailed for more than a decade in Wallems and presently engaged with CSSM as faculty. CSSM takes this opportunity to congratulate Wallems for these achievements and wish them a continued success in the years to come.
