PASSING OUT CEREMONY AT CSSM
Passing out function of Batch-10 cadets who have completed the Alternate Training Scheme to become Marine Engineers (ATS) was held at CSSM on 23.12.2010. Capt.Haridas Pillai, Officer Incharge, Wallem Shipmanagement Pvt.Ltd., Chennai presided over the function as the Chief Guest and awarded certificates to the passing out cadets.
Mr.Samuel Joseph, Trainer, Wallems was also kindly consented and graced the occasion. The function started with a Guard of Honour and Parade with Band by Cadets. Cadet.T.Jagadees, final year cadet welcomed the Chief Guest and the gathering.
Shri A.Ramasubramania Pillai, Principal, CSSM had read out a report regarding the achievements of CSSM and its cadets over the years. Shri G.V.Ramanigopal, Managing Director, CSSM introduced the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. He explained about the developments at CSSM over the years to raise its stature to what it is today and was proud in announcing that CSSM has stepped into the 13th session of ATS programme in 2010. He informed that CSSM is the only institution in the country now to conduct ATS programme successfully for over twelve years. Based on the feedback from the shipping companies, he conveyed that CSSM cadets are performing ship routine with excellent profession skill when they work onboard at various levels. He stressed that the cadets are well groomed to achieve professional excellence through the onboard training they undergo in the second year. He profusely thanked the shipping companies who extended their longstanding support to CSSM in providing onboard
training and placement.
The Chief Guest, Capt.Haridas Pillai, during his speech, explained the importance of coping up with the difficulties in life. Particularly he emphasized that “the Seafarers should have a strong mental fortitude to adapt themselves to the sea environment and meet the requirements of the shipping industry and prove their best wherever they sail.” “Life is complete only when there is some achievement and each one should set a goal and work for it to achieve good
results” he remarked while concluding his speech.
Mr.Samuel Joseph, during his speech stressed the importance of soft skill, professional skill and communication skill and advised the cadets with significant tips for over all qualitative improvement to progress in their professional career.
Cadet B.Tamilpriyan secured 1st rank for his overall performance and he received the Gold Medal and Thiru .Gopala Gounder Trophy with a cash award of Rs.1,001/-. Cadet Arjun Padat secured 2nd rank for his overall performance and he received the Silver Medal. Cadet Ravishankar was awarded a trophy for his Best Officer-like Qualities.
Campus interview was conducted by Wallem Shipmanagement India P.Ltd on 25.10.2010. The chief guest issued the selection letters to the cadets during the Passing Out function.
Cadets presented cultural events during the function. Shri B.Venkatakrishnan, Manager-Admn offered the Vote of Thanks.
